We are excited to announce the release of Enlighten 4.03, the latest version of our powerful global illumination solution, available as a standalone SDK or integrated within Unreal Engine 5.4.
Enlighten 4.03 delivers significant upgrades in automatic probe placement, high-definition per-pixel probe lighting, and a host of optimizations that enhance both performance and visual fidelity.
New key features include improvements to diffuse indirect lighting, which now more accurately matches real-world lighting. In this update, common light leaks have been eliminated in areas where thin walls separate bright outdoor spaces from darker indoor areas. New performance improvements reduce GPU memory usage by approximately 15% and optimize probe lighting in areas with dense foliage. Additionally, sky lighting can now be applied separately from bounced lighting, resulting in notable improvements in lighting accuracy (SDK only).
Enlighten 4.03 is designed to streamline large-scale scene lighting, offering beta support for World Partition in Unreal Engine, enabling a more flexible and scalable workflow. This update also provides developers with improved error reporting and diagnostic tools to ensure efficient precompute, scene configuration, and runtime performance.
For further information about the Enlighten 4.03 update, please check the release notes found in the Enlighten online SDK and UE5 documentation.
